Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SAB03 is a biological drug candidate developed by Santa Ana Bio that functions as a programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) agonist. Unlike PD-1 inhibitors used in oncology, SAB03 is designed to activate the PD-1 pathway, thereby suppressing pathogenic T cells involved in severe inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. The molecule targets and eliminates high-, medium-, and low-expressing PD-1 pathogenic T cells, aiming to address disease-driving immune responses more comprehensively than current therapies. Its primary indications under development include rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, asthma, and inflammatory bowel diseases. As of June 2024, it remains in preclinical development with Phase I trials expected to begin in 2025[1][2][3][4][5].
