Sabin-strain inactivated poliovirus vaccine (Vero cell) is a trivalent inactivated vaccine (sIPV) developed by Beijing Minhai Biotechnology (a subsidiary of Shenzhen Kangtai Biological Products) for the prevention of poliomyelitis. The vaccine is derived from attenuated Sabin strains of poliovirus (Types 1, 2, and 3) rather than the wild-type Salk strains, which improves biosafety during the manufacturing process by reducing the risk of environmental reintroduction of virulent virus. It is produced using Vero cell culture technology and inactivated with formaldehyde. This sIPV is designed to provide protective immunity against all three poliovirus serotypes and has been evaluated in Phase I/III clinical trials (e.g., CTR20170982) in infants, children, and adults to support the global transition from oral poliovirus vaccine (OPV) to inactivated poliovirus vaccine (IPV).
