Overview

Sabirnetug (ACU193) is a humanized monoclonal antibody developed by Acumen Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of early Alzheimer's disease. It is the first antibody to demonstrate selective target engagement of soluble amyloid beta oligomers (AβOs), which are highly toxic and pathogenic forms of amyloid beta believed to be a primary cause of synaptic dysfunction and neurodegeneration in Alzheimer's disease. Unlike other therapies that target amyloid plaques or monomers, sabirnetug specifically binds to AβOs, aiming to prevent their neurotoxic effects. The drug has shown favorable safety and tolerability in Phase 1 clinical trials (INTERCEPT-AD) and is currently being evaluated in Phase 2 studies (ALTITUDE-AD). Sabirnetug has received Fast Track designation from the FDA for early Alzheimer's disease[1][5][6][8].
