Overview

Sacchachitin is a novel chitin-polysaccharide conjugate macromolecule derived from the extraction residue of Ganoderma fruiting bodies, particularly Ganoderma tsugae and Ganoderma lucidum. It is obtained by processing the residue through digestion with KOH and bleaching with NaClO, resulting in a water-insoluble material. Sacchachitin has demonstrated potential for enhancing wound healing by promoting cell proliferation and inhibiting proteolysis. It has been formulated in various forms including micronized sacchachitin (mSC) nanogel and TEMPO-oxidized sacchachitin nanofibers (TOSCNFs) for different therapeutic applications.
