Overview

**Saccharomyces boulardii CNCM I-745** is a live, nonpathogenic probiotic yeast strain marketed in the United States as Florastor. In the Lurie Children's Hospital-sponsored study NCT06149676, Florastor 250 mg is being evaluated as daily prophylaxis alongside ciprofloxacin treatment at the first subsequent susceptible urinary tract infection in children with recurrent urinary tract infection. The probiotic is intended to modulate intestinal microbiota and mucosal immune function rather than directly kill urinary pathogens; its efficacy for preventing recurrent urinary tract infection remains investigational.
