Overview

Saccharomyces cerevisiae extract is a versatile bio-derived product with a range of applications, from industrial biosynthesis to potential therapeutic, nutraceutical, and cosmetic uses. It has been utilized in the light-mediated biosynthesis of size-tuned silver nanoparticles. In biological contexts, it is being investigated as a potential treatment for human rotavirus infection, showing inhibitory effects on viral nonstructural proteins and exhibiting favorable safety profiles. It also demonstrates promise as an anti-skin cancer agent, inhibiting melanoma cell growth and proliferation by reducing cyclin D1 and c-myc expression. Furthermore, it is employed as a dietary supplement in aquaculture, improving growth, hematology, immunity, and antioxidant status in Nile tilapia, and mitigating the adverse effects of aflatoxin contamination in breeder hens. In cosmetic applications, it has been shown to improve skin moisture and microrelief.
