Overview

Saccharum officinarum node extract is an ethanolic preparation derived from the nodes of the sugarcane plant, traditionally utilized in Ayurvedic medicine for its anti-inflammatory properties. Preclinical research, particularly in rat models of rheumatoid arthritis, has demonstrated its ability to significantly reduce paw edema, synovial hyperplasia, and cartilage erosion. The extract's therapeutic effect is primarily attributed to the downregulation of key pro-inflammatory cytokines, including tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β), and interleukin-6 (IL-6), as well as the inhibition of hyaluronidase, an enzyme involved in connective tissue degradation.
