Overview

SACLAC is an irreversible inhibitor of acid ceramidase, with a Ki of 97.1 nM. It is a ceramide analog and a derivative of the acid ceramidase inhibitor SABRAC. SACLAC is used as a research compound targeting the enzyme acid ceramidase (ASAH1), which is involved in the metabolism of ceramides—lipid molecules critical to cell signaling pathways regulating apoptosis, proliferation, and inflammation. By inhibiting acid ceramidase, SACLAC promotes ceramide accumulation, thereby modulating processes involved in cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, and inflammation. SACLAC is not marketed as a pharmaceutical product and is primarily used in laboratory research for mechanistic studies and drug discovery related to ceramide metabolism[1][7].
