Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**SAFE-HEMO-CAR-T** is an advanced autologous CAR-T cell therapy developed by Hemogenyx Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of acute myeloid leukemia (AML). It builds on the company's proprietary HEMO-CAR-T platform by incorporating a safety switch that modulates T-cell activity, transforming it into a controllable therapy to enhance safety and versatility. The CAR construct utilizes a humanized monoclonal antibody targeting a surface antigen on AML cells, enabling engineered T cells to specifically recognize and eliminate malignant cells. In vitro studies have demonstrated efficacy against AML, with ongoing in vivo testing in humanized mouse models; it shows potential for AML treatment and bone marrow transplant conditioning, addressing the poor survival rates (<25% five-year) of this common adult acute leukemia currently managed with chemotherapy.[1][7]
