Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Safflower wine (also known as Honghua wine or Honghua jiu) is a traditional Chinese medicated wine prepared by macerating or decocting the dried petals of safflower (*Carthamus tinctorius* L.) in white spirit or wine. In traditional Chinese medicine, it is used to promote blood circulation, resolve blood stasis, unblock meridians, and alleviate pain. Clinically, safflower wine is applied topically as a wet dressing to improve the function and prolong the service life of autogenous arteriovenous fistulas (AVF) in maintenance hemodialysis patients by increasing blood flow and expanding vascular diameter. It is also used to treat conditions associated with blood stagnation, such as dysmenorrhea, traumatic injuries, and rheumatic pain.
