Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Safflower Xiaoyao Tablets is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed by the Peking University Third Hospital, primarily indicated for the treatment of premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and related gynecological disorders. The formula is an adaptation of the classic Xiaoyao San, enriched with safflower (Carthamus tinctorius) to enhance its blood-activating and stasis-resolving properties. It works by soothing the liver, regulating qi, and nourishing the blood. Clinically, it is used to alleviate symptoms such as breast tenderness, irritability, and menstrual irregularities associated with liver qi stagnation and blood stasis. As a hospital preparation, it is widely used within the Peking University Third Hospital system for managing menstrual cycle-related distress.
