SAGE-105

SAGE-105 is an experimental small molecule and neuroactive steroid developed by Sage Therapeutics that acts as a positive allosteric modulator (PAM) of the gamma-aminobutyric acid type A (GABA_A) receptor. GABA is the primary inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system, and modulating its activity is a validated therapeutic approach for restoring GABAergic balance in various neuropsychiatric and neurological conditions. SAGE-105 was part of Sage's early-stage pipeline (100-series) aimed at addressing disorders such as depression and anxiety. However, the compound has largely been superseded in clinical development by other candidates in the Sage portfolio, such as zuranolone (SAGE-217) and SAGE-324, and is no longer listed in the company's active development pipeline.
