Sagopilone is a fully synthetic epothilone and small molecule anticancer agent that acts as a microtubule-stabilizing drug. It binds to tubulin and promotes polymerization of microtubules, leading to cell cycle arrest at metaphase and subsequent apoptosis. Sagopilone was developed as an alternative to taxanes for the treatment of various cancers due to its activity in multidrug-resistant tumor cell lines and ability to cross the blood-brain barrier[2][6].
