Sahasthara Microemulsion

**Sahasthara Microemulsion** is an investigational topical microemulsion containing 1% ethanolic extract of Sahasthara, a Thai traditional multi-herb medicine comprising 21 botanical ingredients. It is being developed by Thammasat University as a locally applied anti-inflammatory and analgesic treatment for primary knee osteoarthritis. In the completed randomized double-blind Phase 2 study NCT06184685, the product was applied to the affected knee at 2 mL three times daily for 28 days and was compared with 2% diclofenac microemulsion. Sahasthara extract has shown anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity in preclinical studies, including inhibition of inflammatory nitric oxide and prostaglandin E2 production, but no single validated molecular target has been established for the complete botanical formulation.
