SAL003 refers to two distinct drug candidates in current biomedical research. The first is a small molecule inhibitor of eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2α (eIF2α) phosphatase, which increases eIF2α phosphorylation by blocking its dephosphorylation. This action modulates protein synthesis and has been studied for effects on apoptosis, endoplasmic reticulum stress, memory reconsolidation, and neurobiology[1][2][5][8]. The second is a recombinant fully human anti-PCSK9 monoclonal antibody derived from IgG4, developed as a lipid-lowering agent for hyperlipidemia and hypercholesterolemia. This antibody inhibits proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9), leading to increased LDL receptor levels and reduced LDL cholesterol[6]. Both forms are under investigation for various indications but are not yet approved.
