SAL0144 is an investigational, orally administered small molecule inhibitor of Proprotein Convertase Subtilisin/Kexin Type 9 (PCSK9), developed by Shenzhen Salubris Pharmaceuticals (also known as Xinlitai). It is designed for the treatment of dyslipidemia, specifically to lower low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels. PCSK9 normally binds to LDL receptors (LDLR) on the liver cell surface, leading to their degradation; by inhibiting this interaction, SAL0144 increases the recycling of LDLR to the cell surface, enhancing the liver's ability to remove LDL-C from the blood. As a small molecule, it offers a potential oral alternative to injectable PCSK9 monoclonal antibodies.
