SAL0145 is an investigational small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapeutic developed by Shenzhen Salubris Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) and metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD). The drug utilizes RNA interference to specifically target and silence the expression of the HSD17B13 (Hydroxysteroid 17-beta dehydrogenase 13) gene in the liver. HSD17B13 is a lipid droplet-associated enzyme, and genetic variants that reduce its expression have been linked to protection against chronic liver diseases, including MASH and cirrhosis. By mimicking this protective effect, SAL0145 aims to reduce hepatic fat accumulation, inflammation, and fibrosis. In early 2026, the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) of China accepted the clinical trial application (IND) for SAL0145 injection, marking its transition into clinical development.
