Overview

SAL0167 is an investigational oral small molecule inhibitor of proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9), developed by Shenzhen Salubris Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of hyperlipidemia. PCSK9 is a key regulator of cholesterol metabolism that binds to low-density lipoprotein receptors (LDLR) on the surface of hepatocytes, leading to their degradation and a subsequent increase in circulating LDL cholesterol levels. By inhibiting PCSK9, SAL0167 prevents LDLR degradation, thereby increasing the density of these receptors on liver cells and enhancing the clearance of LDL cholesterol from the blood. As of 2024, SAL0167 is undergoing Phase 1 clinical development in China to evaluate its safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and lipid-lowering efficacy in healthy adult participants.
