Salatac

Salatac is an approved topical combination therapy developed by Diomed (marketed through Dermal Laboratories) for the treatment of warts, verrucas, corns, and calluses. It is formulated as an evaporative collodion-like gel containing salicylic acid (12% w/w) and lactic acid (4% w/w). Upon application, the gel forms a cohesive, adhesive film on the skin. Salicylic acid acts as a keratolytic agent, inducing the slow destruction of the thickened stratum corneum by reducing corneocyte adhesion and causing the epithelium to swell and desquamate. Lactic acid serves to enhance the availability of salicylic acid from the dried film and provides additional antiseptic and caustic properties. The product is indicated for use in adults, children, and the elderly.
