Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Salba-chia is a trademarked, nutritionally consistent strain of white chia (*Salvia hispanica L.*) characterized by high concentrations of omega-3 alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), dietary fiber, and antioxidants. Developed for clinical and dietary use, it is marketed as a functional food and nutraceutical. In clinical research involving overweight and obese patients with type 2 diabetes, Salba-chia has demonstrated the ability to promote weight loss, reduce waist circumference, and lower levels of high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP). Its mechanism of action is attributed to its high viscous fiber content, which enhances satiety and slows glucose absorption, as well as its ability to modulate metabolic hormones, including increasing adiponectin and decreasing ghrelin levels.
