SaliCept

SaliCept is an oral wound dressing developed by Carrington Laboratories, Inc., primarily used for the management of mouth sores, oral irritations, and alveolar osteitis (dry socket) following tooth extraction. Its active component is acemannan hydrogel, a polydispersed acetylated mannan derived from the inner gel of the *Aloe vera* L. plant. SaliCept is available as a freeze-dried pledget (patch) or a mucosal coating rinse suspension. It functions as a physical barrier to protect the wound site from further irritation while providing a moist environment conducive to healing. The product received FDA 510(k) clearance as a medical device and has demonstrated clinical efficacy in reducing the incidence of dry socket compared to standard treatments.
