Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This drug is a **topical combination** of three active ingredients: **salicylic acid** (a keratolytic), **urea** (a humectant and keratolytic agent), and **glycerin** (an emollient and humectant). - **Salicylic acid** acts by promoting exfoliation (desquamation) of the stratum corneum, the outer layer of skin, through dissolving intercellular cement, allowing scaling and rough skin to slough off[1][2][4]. - **Urea** softens and hydrates the skin by disrupting hydrogen bonds in the stratum corneum, increasing water uptake and also providing mild keratolytic effects[2][6]. - **Glycerin** acts as a humectant, drawing and retaining moisture, which assists in softening the skin and further enhances the effects of urea and salicylic acid[3]. This combination is used for **topical treatment and symptomatic relief of hyperkeratotic and scaly skin disorders** such as **psoriasis, eczema, keratosis pilaris, ichthyosis, plantar warts, and corns/calluses**[1][2][8]. It is available as compounded creams or ointments from specialty pharmacies and is applied externally to affected skin.
