Salicylic acid + zinc gluconate + lipohydroxy acid is a topical combination primarily used in dermatology for acne-prone skin, typically formulated as a cleansing gel or cream. The combination leverages the **keratolytic and comedolytic effects of salicylic acid**, the **anti-inflammatory, sebum-regulating, and antibacterial activities of zinc gluconate**, and the **mild exfoliant and skin renewal properties of lipohydroxy acid** (LHA). Salicylic acid acts by exfoliating the stratum corneum and keeping pores clear. Zinc gluconate regulates sebum production by inhibiting 5-α-reductase, suppresses inflammatory mediators such as TNF-α, and inhibits Cutibacterium acnes. LHA, a derivative of salicylic acid, provides targeted micro-exfoliation with good tolerability. Clinical studies have demonstrated reduced lesion count and improved skin barrier after regular topical use in mild to moderate truncal acne[1][3][5][7].
