Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a placebo control formulation consisting of a saline solution supplemented with 1% human serum albumin (HSA). It was developed by Beijing 302 Hospital (The Fifth Medical Center of PLA General Hospital) specifically for use in a Phase II randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial evaluating the efficacy and safety of human umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells (UC-MSCs) in patients with severe COVID-19. The formulation was designed to mimic the appearance and administration route of the experimental stem cell therapy to maintain the blinding of the study, providing no active therapeutic effect beyond standard supportive care. It serves as the vehicle control for the cellular therapy arm.
