Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This saline nasal spray is a placebo control used in a randomized, blind, parallel-group pilot clinical trial (NCT05004805) conducted by the Irkutsk Scientific Center of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The study was designed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of a 0.02% methylene blue solution for nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal irrigation in hospitalized patients with moderate COVID-19. The saline solution serves as the comparator arm, administered topically via the same nasopharyngeal irrigation route as the active treatment to establish a baseline for clinical, laboratory, and radiological improvements, as well as SARS-CoV-2 PCR clearance rates.
