Drug intelligence / Profile preview
saline placebo-Heron Therapeutics-COVID-19 refers to the saline control used in Heron Therapeutics' Phase 2 GUARDS-1 clinical trial (Study HTX-019-202). This trial was designed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of CINVANTI (aprepitant injectable emulsion) in early hospitalized adult patients with COVID-19. The placebo was administered as a 2-minute intravenous injection once daily for 14 days, matching the dosing regimen of the active treatment to maintain the double-blind nature of the study. As a placebo, it contains no active pharmaceutical ingredient and serves as a baseline for comparing the effects of aprepitant on cytokine storms and inflammatory responses in SARS-CoV-2 infected patients.
