Overview

This entry refers to the placebo saline solution used as a control arm in a Phase I clinical trial (NCT02435732) conducted by the University of Wisconsin, Madison. The study investigated the use of CINRYZE (a C1 esterase inhibitor) as a pre-treatment strategy in brain-dead donors with a Kidney Donor Profile Index (KDPI) greater than 60% to reduce the incidence of delayed graft function (DGF) in kidney transplant recipients. The saline solution served as the inactive comparator to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the active C1 inhibitor treatment in mitigating brain death-induced organ injury and systemic inflammation.
