Salivart

Salivart is a brand-name synthetic saliva substitute designed to provide temporary relief from xerostomia (dry mouth) and associated oral discomfort. It is formulated to mimic the chemical and physical properties of natural human saliva, providing essential lubrication and moisture to the oral mucosa. The product is commonly used by patients experiencing dry mouth due to conditions such as Sjögren's syndrome, medication side effects, chemotherapy, or head and neck radiation therapy. Salivart typically contains a combination of electrolytes (including sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium salts) and a thickening agent, such as carboxymethylcellulose, to achieve a viscosity similar to natural saliva. It is applied topically to the mouth and throat and is not intended for systemic absorption.
