Drug intelligence / Profile preview
UIC202005 is a dry powder inhaler (DPI) combination therapy developed by Korea United Pharm, containing the long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist (LABA) salmeterol xinafoate and the inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) fluticasone propionate. It is being developed as an improved formulation of the company's existing product UI009 (Combi-Air), which is a generic version of the reference drug Seretide (Advair). Salmeterol provides prolonged bronchodilation by relaxing airway smooth muscle through beta2-receptor activation, while fluticasone propionate exerts potent anti-inflammatory effects by binding to glucocorticoid receptors. The combination is intended for the maintenance treatment of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), aiming to improve lung function and reduce the frequency of exacerbations.
