Overview

**Salmonella oral vaccine** is an experimental, personalized oral bacterial-vector DNA cancer vaccine being developed by the Belarusian Research Center for Pediatric Oncology, Hematology and Immunology for relapsed neuroblastoma. It uses attenuated *Salmonella enterica* serovar Typhimurium strain SS2017 carrying a plasmid DNA vaccine encoding a selected neuroblastoma-associated antigen fused to potato virus X coat protein as an immune enhancer. Candidate tumor antigens include tyrosine hydroxylase, paired-like homeobox 2B, survivin, melanoma-associated antigen 1, melanoma-associated antigen 3, and preferentially expressed antigen in melanoma. The oral product is administered as part of a combined vaccination strategy that also includes intramuscular administration of a DNA-polyethylenimine polyplex, with the objective of inducing cellular immune responses against antigen-expressing neuroblastoma cells.
