Salmonella phage P22 is a temperate bacteriophage that infects *Salmonella typhimurium*. In the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors, it is primarily utilized as a **virus-like particle (VLP)** platform for the modular delivery of vaccines and therapeutic cargos. The P22 capsid is highly stable and can be recombinantly produced in *Escherichia coli*, allowing for the encapsulation of various proteins, peptides, or small molecules through a directed assembly process.
