Overview
Salsola oppositifolia allergenic extract is a biological product derived from the pollen of the *Salsola oppositifolia* weed, a member of the Chenopodiaceae family common in the Mediterranean region. Developed by Laboratorios Leti, it is used for the diagnosis and potential immunotherapy of allergic conditions such as allergic rhinitis and allergic asthma triggered by this specific pollen. The extract contains a complex mixture of proteins that interact with specific IgE antibodies on mast cells and basophils, eliciting an allergic response. It has been evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials in Spain to standardize its potency using histamine equivalent units (HEP) via skin prick testing.
