Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Saltikva + FOLFIRINOX is a combination regimen for treating advanced pancreatic cancer. It unites **Saltikva** (an orally administered, attenuated strain of *Salmonella typhimurium* genetically engineered to express human interleukin-2) with **FOLFIRINOX** (a chemotherapy protocol combining folinic acid, fluorouracil, irinotecan, and oxaliplatin). Saltikva acts primarily by stimulating immune-mediated antitumor activity in the tumor microenvironment through local delivery of IL-2, producing a surge in natural killer (NK) cell activity. FOLFIRINOX exerts cytotoxic antineoplastic effects via multiple mechanisms targeting DNA synthesis, cellular replication, and microtubule dynamics. In Phase 2 clinical studies in metastatic stage IV pancreatic cancer, this combination nearly doubled median overall survival over FOLFIRINOX alone, with no serious toxicities attributed to Saltikva.
