Overview

Lukang saltuzumab (LK085) is a humanized monoclonal antibody targeting vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), developed by Shandong Lukang Pharmaceutical. It functions as an angiogenesis inhibitor by binding to the VEGF-A ligand, thereby preventing its interaction with VEGF receptors (VEGFR-1 and VEGFR-2) on the surface of endothelial cells. This disruption of the VEGF signaling pathway inhibits the formation of new blood vessels (angiogenesis) that are essential for tumor growth and metastasis. Saltuzumab is being developed as a biosimilar to bevacizumab and is primarily investigated for oncology indications, including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). In clinical development, it is frequently evaluated in combination with evoximab (LK087), a PD-1 inhibitor also developed by Lukang, to leverage the potential synergy between immune checkpoint blockade and anti-angiogenic therapy, particularly in the neoadjuvant setting for resectable lung cancer.
