Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Salucid is a sterile, nonpyrogenic, hypertonic parenteral solution of sodium bicarbonate (typically 8.4% w/v) manufactured by Euro-Med Laboratories. It serves as a systemic alkalinizing agent designed to correct metabolic acidosis by increasing plasma bicarbonate levels, which buffers excess hydrogen ions and restores normal blood pH. It is indicated for the treatment of metabolic acidosis associated with conditions such as cardiac arrest, severe renal disease, uncontrolled diabetes, and circulatory insufficiency. Salucid is administered via intravenous injection and is a critical component in emergency medicine and intensive care for managing severe acid-base imbalances.
