Overview

Salvianolic acid A sodium is a sodium salt of salvianolic acid A, a highly bioactive polyphenolic compound naturally derived from the root of *Salvia miltiorrhiza* (Danshen). It is being developed as an intravenous injection for the treatment of cardiovascular conditions, including coronary artery disease and angina pectoris. The compound is recognized for its potent antioxidant properties, ability to inhibit platelet aggregation, and protective effects on vascular endothelial cells. By reducing oxidative stress and improving microcirculation, it aims to mitigate myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury and stabilize atherosclerotic plaques. Clinical development in China has progressed through Phase 1 trials evaluating safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics in healthy volunteers.
