Overview

Salvianolic acid B is a water-soluble polyphenolic compound and major active constituent of Salvia miltiorrhiza (Danshen). It has potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, cardioprotective, neuroprotective, antineoplastic, hepatoprotective, and metabolism-regulating effects. Its mechanisms are mainly associated with free radical scavenging, anti-inflammatory effects, inhibition of apoptosis and fibrosis, and modulation of various cellular signaling pathways, including suppression of NF-κB and TLR4/NLRP3 inflammasome pathways. Salvianolic acid B has been widely used in traditional Chinese medicine, including as an injectable formulation studied in clinical trials for its safety and pharmacokinetics[1][2][3][4][7].
