Sam68 siRNA is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to silence the expression of the Sam68 protein, which is encoded by the KHDRBS1 gene. Sam68 is an RNA-binding protein that acts as a scaffold for signaling molecules and is involved in alternative splicing and RNA transport. It is frequently overexpressed in various cancers, including prostate cancer, where its activation is linked to the Src tyrosine kinase pathway. By targeting Sam68 mRNA for degradation, this siRNA inhibits cell cycle progression, reduces proliferation, and increases the sensitivity of cancer cells to apoptosis-inducing agents like cisplatin.
