Overview

Sameerpannag Rasa is a traditional Ayurvedic herbomineral formulation (Kupipakwa Rasayana) primarily composed of mercury, sulfur, and arsenic compounds, including arsenic trioxide, realgar, and orpiment. It is traditionally used to treat Vata-related disorders, such as rheumatoid arthritis, bronchial asthma (Tamaka Shwasa), and chronic respiratory conditions. Research suggests it may possess neuroprotective properties in ischemic stroke by attenuating neuroinflammatory responses and suppressing inflammatory gene expression. Due to its heavy metal content, it is typically administered in minute doses under strict medical supervision and is prepared using traditional purification (Shodhana) processes to mitigate toxicity.
