Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Samsoeum is a traditional herbal medicine (SSE) widely utilized in Korean and Chinese medicine for the treatment of the common cold, cough, and respiratory infections, particularly in patients with a perceived deficiency of qi. The formula is a complex mixture typically composed of 11 medicinal herbs, including *Panax ginseng*, *Perilla frutescens*, and *Pueraria lobata*. Pharmacologically, Samsoeum is recognized for its anti-inflammatory, anti-tussive, and immunomodulatory effects, which are attributed to the synergistic action of its various phytochemical constituents. It has been evaluated in randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trials to verify its safety and effectiveness in reducing the duration and severity of cold symptoms.
