San Jie Zhen Tong

San Jie Zhen Tong is a traditional Chinese patent medicine formulated as an oral capsule. It is primarily used for the management of gynecological conditions such as endometriosis, adenomyosis, dysmenorrhea (painful menstruation), pelvic mass, and irregular menstruation. The formulation contains a proprietary blend of herbal ingredients including Resina Draconis (Daemonorops draco Blume), Panax pseudoginseng (Notoginseng Root), Fritillaria thunbergii Miq (Thunberg Fritillary Bulb), coix seed, Eucommia Bark, Angelica sinensis (Dong Quai), Achyranthes Root, Chinese Skullcap Root, and Safflower[1][3][4]. The main bioactive constituents—such as ginsenoside Rg1, peimine, loureirin A, 7,4′-dihydroxyflavone and pterostilbene—are associated with anti-inflammatory effects; regulation of hormone levels; inhibition of cell adhesion and proliferation; reduction in angiogenesis; and modulation of signaling pathways including phosphoinositide 3-kinase-Akt (PI3K-Akt), nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) and mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK)[1][4]. Experimental studies suggest that it reduces the size of endometrial explants by downregulating vascular endothelial growth factor and tumor necrosis factor-alpha expression[4]. Clinically it has been shown to alleviate menstrual pain with a favorable safety profile compared to hormonal therapies[1].
