Overview

SAN711 is a first-in-class, highly selective small molecule positive allosteric modulator of the gamma-aminobutyric acid A (GABA-A) receptor alpha 3 subunit. It was developed using Saniona’s proprietary ion channel drug discovery platform to selectively enhance GABAergic signaling at α3-containing GABA-A receptors. This selectivity is designed to provide central nervous system benefits such as pain relief and reduction of tremor while minimizing typical side effects associated with non-selective GABA-A modulators, including sedation, motor instability, cognitive impairment, abuse liability, and physical dependence. The drug has demonstrated safety and tolerability in Phase 1 trials and is being advanced for indications including essential tremor and neuropathic pain disorders[2][5][6][7].
