Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Sanaglu Laves is an over-the-counter dietary supplement developed and manufactured by Laves-Arzneimittel. It is formulated as oral capsules containing a combination of gluten-digesting enzymes, including Protease 3.0, a protease blend, and dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPPIV). These enzymes, which function as both endopeptidases and exopeptidases, are derived from naturally occurring microorganisms such as *Aspergillus niger*, *Aspergillus oryzae*, and *Bacillus subtilis*. They are active in the stomach and stable across a wide pH range, where they work to rapidly break down gluten (specifically glutelins and prolamins) as well as other competing proteins (such as those from milk, soy, and eggs) that could otherwise hinder gluten digestion. Sanaglu Laves is designed to support the digestion of gluten-containing foods in individuals with gluten sensitivity, though it is not a substitute for a strict gluten-free diet in patients diagnosed with celiac disease.
