Sanchi-Tongshu is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed and manufactured by the Pharmaceutical Factory of Chengdu HuaSun Group Inc., Ltd. The drug is composed of Panax notoginseng triol saponins (PTS), with the primary bioactive components being ginsenoside Rg1, ginsenoside Re, and notoginsenoside R1. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of ischemic stroke and cardiovascular diseases, functioning by targeting glycoprotein 1b alpha (GP1BA) to reduce platelet aggregation and adhesion. This mechanism provides cerebral protective effects in cases of cerebral ischemia and infarction. Marketed in China since 2003, Sanchi-Tongshu is available in both standard and enteric-coated capsule forms and has been investigated for the treatment of aural vertigo and potential registration in the European market.
