Sanfujiu

Sanfujiu is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) therapy, also known as Sanfu Tie or Sanfu herbal patching, used primarily for the treatment of respiratory conditions such as allergic rhinitis and asthma. The treatment involves applying a plaster made of warm-natured herbal ingredients—commonly including *Sinapis alba*, *Corydalis yanhusuo*, *Asarum sieboldii*, and *Kansui radix* mixed with ginger juice—to specific acupuncture points on the body during the "Sanfu" days, which are the three hottest periods of the summer. This practice follows the TCM principle of "treating winter diseases in summer" (Dong Bing Xia Zhi), aiming to boost the body's yang energy and immune function to prevent the recurrence of chronic conditions during the colder months. Clinical studies suggest that Sanfujiu may modulate the immune system by reducing IgE levels and balancing Th1/Th2 cytokine production.
