Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Sang Bai Pi is the dried root bark of the white mulberry tree (Morus alba), widely used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It is primarily indicated for respiratory conditions such as coughs, wheezing, asthma, and phlegm congestion. Sang Bai Pi exhibits antitussive (cough-suppressing), expectorant (phlegm-loosening), anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, diuretic and immunomodulatory properties. In TCM theory it is considered sweet and cold in nature and acts mainly on the Lung channel to clear heat from the lungs and promote urination to reduce swelling or edema. Modern research supports its use for respiratory disorders like asthma and chronic bronchitis; it may also help regulate blood pressure through vasodilation effects[1][5][6]. The main active constituents include flavonoids such as rutin and quercetin.
