Sang-Qi Granula

Sang-Qi Granula (also known as Sangqi Qingxuan formula) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal granule formulation developed by the China-Japan Friendship Hospital for the treatment of primary hypertension and associated vascular endothelial dysfunction. The formula is composed of eight medicinal herbs: Herba Taxilli, Fructus Lycii, Cortex Eucommiae, Semen Cassiae, Radix et Rhizoma Salviae Miltiorrhizae, Rhizoma Alismatis, Radix Puerariae Lobatae, and Flos Chrysanthemi indici. Sang-Qi Granula exerts its antihypertensive and cardioprotective effects by improving vascular endothelial function, reducing blood pressure, and preventing myocardial fibrosis. Mechanistically, it has been shown to suppress inflammatory responses by downregulating NF-κB and TGF-β signaling pathways while upregulating peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors alpha and gamma (PPARα and PPARγ).
