Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Sanghe Jianghuo Granules is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formulation developed by the Children's Hospital of Fudan University for the treatment of precocious puberty, particularly in children with comorbid obesity. The formulation is composed of several herbal ingredients, including mulberry leaves (Sangye), lotus leaves (Heye), fresh rehmannia (Sheng Di Huang), anemarrhena (Zhi Mu), scutellaria (Huang Qin), and atractylodes (Bai Zhu). Based on TCM principles, it is designed to nourish yin and purge fire, addressing the pathogenesis of kidney yin deficiency and hyperactivity of ministerial fire. Mechanistically, the drug aims to regulate the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis, improve metabolic homeostasis, and modulate the inflammatory microenvironment. It is being evaluated as a potential alternative or adjunct to gonadotropin-releasing hormone analogs (GnRHa) to delay the development of secondary sexual characteristics and bone age without the growth-inhibiting side effects associated with conventional therapies.
