Overview

Sanghuangporus baumii is a medicinal mushroom (fungus) belonging to the Sanghuang group, traditionally utilized in Chinese medicine for its immunomodulatory and anti-tumor properties. It is currently being developed as an oral tablet formulation for the treatment of chemotherapy-induced immunodeficiency, specifically in patients with colorectal cancer who exhibit a low CD4/CD8 ratio. The drug's active constituents, including polysaccharides, flavonoids, and triterpenes, are believed to enhance T-cell immune function and promote the recovery of immune indices. A Phase 4 randomized clinical trial is evaluating its efficacy and safety compared to thymalfasin (thymosin alpha-1) in restoring immune balance following chemotherapy.
