Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Sanglong pingchuan decoction (SLPCD) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formulation investigated for its therapeutic potential in the treatment of asthma. Preclinical studies in ovalbumin (OVA)-induced allergic asthma models indicate that SLPCD attenuates airway inflammation and alleviates pathogenesis by modulating the immune response. Its primary mechanism involves restoring the balance between Th1 and Th2 cytokine profiles; specifically, it downregulates the expression of Th2 cytokines (such as IL-4, IL-5, IL-10, and IL-13) and reduces serum total IgE levels, while simultaneously upregulating Th1 cytokines (such as IFN-γ and IL-2). This dual action helps to suppress eosinophilic infiltration and airway hyperresponsiveness.
